card. then the state said that can be used to board airplanes. we need all sorts of forms of identification. then the state changed its mind and said we'll issue a voter i.d. card that's different. only if you can't get the other card. then they changed their mind on that. the judge said i can't be sure. even though the state has now cured a lot of these problems, i can't be sure enough people are going to be able to get the right kind of identification to allow this law to go into effect. i'm going to let the state continue to educate people about the need for photo i.d. i'm going to let the state ask for photo i.d. atle positive, but enjoin the part of the law that requires voters to have photo i.d. people wanted it all put on hold. the judge said i don't need to go that far. there is always the possibility the state could go back to the supreme court on this, but begin how skeptical the supreme court was when they looked at this a few weeks ago, i think it's over. that means that the new voter i.d. law for the most part will not go into effect in pennsylvania. people who o

much for joining us today. >> but look, the unemployment rate dropped. it's important to note that if you look at where unemployment is dropping, it's the red states. red state governors are leading the charge. right here in florida, rick scott, over 150 jobs created. the blue states are not creating jobs. but the reality is on a national level, there are still over 20 million people that don't have a job. if the unemployment rate were at what president obama promised us, if we passed the stimulus, he said 5.3%. 8.5 more million people would be back to work. >> you know, that's one argument, but it didn't answer my question. do you believe what certain people are coming out and saying that these numbers have been manipulated? >> i accept the numbers as they are. the economic recovery and job creation is being led by red state republican governors. president obama did not focus on job creation. job creation is also tied to spending and deficits. he gave us $16 trillion in debt. so while we do see an improvement in job creation, it's not what it should be. the red state governors are le

the white house for us right now. good to see you. republicans keep beating the drum on the libya consulate attack. it can't be as singular as that, though. you don't expect that, do you? >> no, there are going to be other issues involved. certainly iran, its relationship with israel, and its burgeoning nuclear enrichment facilities they have in iran. china and trade with china. this is something that mitt romney has been hitting on, including the last debate. but libya, of course, richard, that was the big controversy, the big talking point coming out of that last contentious debate. this is a talking point and an attack that the republicans have been leading ever since that tragic attack on september 11th in benghazi at the american facility there that left four americans dead, including the american ambassador. romney was building up to that. republicans really wanted to see him go after the president on that, but he got tripped up by this timing and what exactly the president said in the rose garden two days after with secretary of state clinton by his side. richard, there is

hour. peter alexander traveling with governor romney joins us by phone now. pete, tell us about the crowds, first of all for governor romney today. >> reporter: well, craig we have taken a little jump and gone ahead of the governor so we can get to land o'lakes now. we're in what is another critical battleground. this is the tampa area, very much a battleground within this swing state here. as people begin to file in, you can see what has become an energized system of support for governor romney in this state. he is making the tour here because today is the first day of in-person polling, the first day that the polls are officially open. absentee votes already 1.1 million have been cast. the democrats in this state actually do better on election day. the early voting traditionally goes towards the republicans in this state. governor romney has been focused on one particular theme throughout the course of the last several days. that's the difference between the two campaigns, referring to big change, real recovery versus the small campaign that he says the president is running. earli

center. what can you tell us. >> nothing has changed. this still indicates the storm is a category 1 hurricane and very far out to sea, but still just as huge as it has been. that's why we are still dealing with some potential for stronger wind gusts and decent rain along the coast of south carolina and north carolina. north eastern north carolina and south eastern south carolina will be almost a pivot point for this storm to rotate on. that's going to produce heavy torrential rain in that area. it is moving northeast right now. still sounds weird that this storm is ever going to take this turn to the northwest, but it is going to happen. it's going to happen especially early monday. sunday night into monday morning is when it takes that turn. look at the size of this storm. we are seeing clouds all the way from florida, stretching up into new jersey at this time. eventually the rain with this storm will make its way up the eastern seaboard. right now the heaviest of the rain, dark shades of green, yellows here, that's where we have your torrential downpours. notice how it's just off

talk about my deceased irish catholic grandmother, because she used to say about pollsters, if they have the nerve to ask, you have the nerve to lie. but could they really have wiped away the gap that they had? >> you know, unclear. i mean, here's the thing. i've always contended that for romney, it wasn't just about having one good debate performance. he's got to show some consistency. he's had a few good days. i think the jobs numbers and the big bird gaffe, if you will, have given team obama a bit of an opportunity to, you know, to rebound and push back, but we'll see. i mean, these polls are a snapshot in time. they certainly suggest that romney, as we all said, had a great debate performance. people took a second look and said, all right, let me pay attention, let me see what i think about this guy. the question is, now that they're taking that second look, when they go to his website and say, wait a second, what he said on the stage about people with pre-existing conditions isn't true based on what it says on his campaign website, what are they going to really think and believ

. >> one other thing, first lady michelle obama was able to use the "sesame street" line and do so in a far more serious way than her husband did. at least what critics are saying. are we going to see a lot more of the first lady, bill clinton, bringing that kind of heat, is that enough to help the president's team dig itself out of that post-debate hole? >> you know, i think -- it certainly does help the first lady has approach ratings of 70%. you see ann romney has approval ratings of 60%. at this point it is all hands-on deck approach though this campaign. closing this gap, reasserting the president. and -- making sure that at least from the first lady's point he gets back on track to where he was before. and i think first ladies help in terms of the women vote. you have seen from recent polls that booem initially had 18, 22-point gap with mitt romney. mitt romney had that deficit. looks like mitt romney has done himself some good in that debate to close that gap. i think you will see the first ladies out there and it is better for the first lady to talk about the "sesame street" l

ongoing that we're just waiting for authorities to give us an update. as you said, several people are confirmed to be injured. a milwaukee-area hospital is confirming to us that seven people at least are hurt we're hearing the good news right now, four of them are not critically injured. the other three, no word on them. another disconcerting factor, richard, is we're hearing that a bomb squad in the milwaukee county area is on the scene near where the shooting happened. we're hearing that an ied may have been placed somewhere near. that a propane tank, explosive is near the scene. fbi officials on the scene. right now it's just not clear where the man is is he inside the spa where the shooting took place. is he headed home, is he headed toward the hospital where some of the victims are. we're awaiting information from the authorities. a lot of fear and uncertainty surrounding this situation in milwaukee right now. >> we're only three hours into this so far. we understand that the hospital is under lockdown what details do you have on that? >> we know there are many, many authorit

time and the best ways new yorkers can help us get this done quickly is to stay off the roads. the work is well under way. east river bridges have already been reopened. the work of getting our mass transit grid and the power grid restored, however, is going to take more time and a lot of patience. mta ceo joe loda has described this as the worst disaster the agency has seen in the 108 years the subways have been running and con ed has described the damage done to its power systems as unprecedented in scope. so, clearly, the challenges our city faces in the coming days are enormous. the mta and con ed both have very strong leaders and extraordinarily dedicated workers. they're working extremely hard and they will continue to work around the clock to get their systems fixed. our administration will move heaven and earth to help them so we can get back up and running as quickly as humanly possible, but the damages they face really are enormous. here's the information that we have as of this moment. regarding con ed and the mta, the most resent report has approximately three-quarters

latest advisory from the national hurricane center. what can you tell us? >> we do still have to deal with a category 1 hurricane at this time. so winds are strong and there's a lot of rain. and this is still a huge storm. but look at how far away it is. it is still about 300 miles east of the carolinas. more than 500 miles to the southeast of new york city. so this storm is still impacting the east coast. and it's so far away. so imagine what's going to happen as it moves closer to shore. we have coastal flood warnings from new england down into the eastern shores of virginia. that's because we are looking at a storm surge up to around four to seven feet. if not higher. that's the type of storm we're dealing with as it moves onshore. it's pushing all that water onshore. and your normal high tide sirk cycle in the mid-atlantic region, that's going to happen at the peak of the storm. so the high tide will be about four to seven feet higher than normal. we also have high wind warnings posted across the northeast. stretching back into eastern ohio, wind with the storm, tropical storm-for
